The Crib is Complete!!

One word: YAAAAYYY!!! ;D I think it took less than an hour to construct the whole thing! So simple - and looks great! We love it!! Yep, we have pictures too. Due to the fact that Mac has already fallen asleep in the bassinet, I'm not going to worry about moving him into this tonight... tomorrow night should be just fine. And fitting... new month, new place to sleep! He'll also be able to take naps in here tomorrow. I guess we'll see how that goes. I gotta say: Mac's side of the room looks more like his room with the crib there! I like it! A lot. I'll get a picture of his "room" once it's cleaned and looks presentable. But for now, at this late hour, this accomplishment feels good. :)

Gettin' Closer!

Mac maneuvered himself around in a complete circle on the floor by doing the "wiggle" combined with the "half-way roll" today! He is getting so close... his mama can hardly stand it! :) Here are a couple photos and some video footage of the circular process. Enjoy...

Here's Mac at the half-way point................. And here he is, back to where he started.

Upgrade!!

The new kids in town.

Well, at long last... we finally upgraded our cell phones! I can't even believe it! The archaic Nokia phones we had served us well for... count them... 4.5 years!!! And we figured it was time since: a) the batteries have been failing us more and more these days, and b) Qwest won't even be carrying wireless anymore. We basically got to switch to Verizon wireless for free. Free phones, free activation, and whatever else they said was free. Yipee! I love my new phone now... I feel so current! ;) It doesn't have all the fancy schmancy bells and whistles that cell phones can have these days, but it's got waaaaaay more than the one I had! Especially since most cell phones come standard with a camera now. When we were at the Qwest kiosk in the mall (which is truly the only place where you can get the best customer service, as I prefer the ultra-personal face-to-face service over the rather impersonal automated phone or online service! The nice Qwest representative even gave us his business card!), the guy asked us if we would like to go ahead and recycle our old phones... to which Brent replied, "No, the Smithsonian called and they'd like to go ahead and induct our phones into their Prehistoric Exhibition." Smarty pants. I, on the other hand, gladly handed over my "prehistoric" phone to be cast into the oldie-but-goodie cell phone graveyard... or wherever it is they lay the well-loved cell phones to rest. Goodbye fair Nokia! Thanks for the memories but you've made your last call. :)

The Real Pout + Bottle Holdin'

Well, here it is folks... the elusive pout. I finally caught a picture of it! I think Mac was getting frustrated with the floor time today. Plus, it was a fairly hot day... so he may not have been in the mood for rollin' around and whatnot. Poor little guy. But after a good nap and some grub to fill the tummy, he's a smilin' boy again. A little bit later, he was drinking some water and holding his own bottle!! Wow! He's just learnin' new stuff left and right! He tries to hold the big bottles but mommy still has to help him out with that. We put the water in a small bottle and he seemed to do pretty well with keeping it upright and in his mouth! Yay Mac! Such a big boy!

21 Weeks Old

Happy 21 weeks, Mac-a-roni!! We had a busy day today! Mac and mommy went to have lunch with Stephanie at about 1pm. That was so fun! Got caught up on all the latest news. When we got back to the office we, of course, had to 'make our rounds' and visit with everyone. They all thought Mac's new hat was the cutest! After we left the clinic, we had to go run some errands. That took a while and we didn't get back home until after 5pm! Whew! Busy, busy! It sure was good to get out of the house though. We need to do that more often... even if it's just to go for a walk. I'm really hoping I can figure out how to get the stroller wheel fixed. I would not be able to carry Mac on a long walk. He's getting to be too heavy for that. And it's almost too hot now for that Baby Björn. We'll figure something out eventually. So this evening, we had Mac lying next to his favorite toy again and he was just cracking us up with the way he would get it to play! Of course, we had to get video footage of that! Here's our clever boy:

Wiggly Worm

Mac has taken to wiggling. I think it's his way of dancing... or getting excited. Either way, it cracks me up. Here's the musical toy he likes to wiggle to: →→ The only time I'm not really fond of the wiggling is when he wakes up at 5am and decides to wiggle around in his squeaky bassinet. It's been happening quite often lately. Mommy's tired. Thankfully, I got the call from JCPenney today saying that the crib is here and ready to pick up. Gotta do that soon! :) We also went to Sonic today for half-priced drinks and then went to daddy's office to surprise him but... he wasn't there!! Boo. He had to go to an unexpected meeting in Caldwell. That'll teach me to buy a drink without calling first! Hopefully it won't be too watered-down by the time he gets home. I hate watered-down drinks. And now, I shall post a video of His Wiggliness:

Bad Mood

So, for those of you who are pretty sure Mac smiles all day long... here he is being kinda cranky. Typically he doesn't get this way unless he's tired or hungry. He was tired here. And probably wondering why mommy kept snapping photos when all he wanted to do was sleep. (I don't normally do that.) I do try to meet his needs before the crankiness gets out of hand and screaming ensues. But cranky or not, he's still the cutest little guy ever!! :)
So sad... this is really close to his pouty face.

This looks like: BACK OFF BUSTA! Don't mess wit me!
Still frustrated but kinda calming down now.

Finally...

... dedication pictures! It was my fault it took so long. I got the 1st disc from Gerry a while back but my computer wasn't wanting to read it. I tried and tried but to no avail. Finally, I got around to asking Gerry for another disc. He said: no problem! That was over a week ago. And I'm just now getting around to downloading them onto my computer! Oh well, better late than never, right?

Happy Memorial Day, 2009!

Daddy didn't have to work today so... after I fed and changed Mac, we had fun waking daddy up! It was after 10am so we figured it'd be ok. :) "Somehow" Mac swooped down and landed right on daddy's tummy! That was fun! ;) Then he just hung out right beside dad for a while. Also fun. We had a nice relaxing day today. Although, at first, we weren't sure what we wanted to do... we kept vacillating between going out or staying in. Then we didn't quite know where to go or what to do. And if we stayed home, should we invite anybody over or just have a quiet dinner by ourselves. So much to ponder. Finally, somewhere between 5 and 6pm (yes, PM!), we decided that it would be ok to just stay home and relax. All that deliberating for nothing! I think Brent and I are really good at procrastination by association. It's like neither of us really wants to make a decision so we wait for the other to decide... thus starting a vicious cycle... and, in the end, leaving no time to actually engage in any of the ideas we may have been bouncing around. Anyhoo... I digress. :) It was a good day, nonetheless. And another funny thing: daddy about spewed chunks while feeding Mac some rice cereal this evening! As you might have guessed, this was daddy's first time feeding Mac his cereal! Unfortunately, for Brent, I wasn't too sympathetic... as I lie there on the floor, laughing hysterically!! Hee hee. Just kidding. I wasn't on the floor. ;) So, you know how babies have to learn how to use their tongues to help them swallow the more solid-type foods? Well, Mac is still working on that. I would say the ratio of food going down to food coming out of the mouth again is about equal. And Brent was having the hardest time with the food that was coming back out. He said it looked like vomit... and, therefore, was making him feel nauseous. Poor guy. But soooo funny. I kept telling Brent: it's rice cereal, just rice, that's all it is! He's all, "I know but it's GROSS!!" I said, "What are you going to do when you have to feed him pureéd peas or squash?!?" He retorts, "Let YOU feed him!" HA ha ha!! :) Wise acre.

Please Pout

I gotta say: Mac has the cutest pout ever! I'm already dreading when he gets older and wants his way... I fear all he'll have to do is pout and mommy will succumb to his every wish! Or, at least, the current one. :) But no pouting today. He really is a pretty content baby and I didn't want to make him mad just to get a pout. One of these days, I'll have my camera ready. Here's the best I could do for now:

Small Group Fun

Another fabulous time with the Tuckers! Tonight was BBQ night for us. We grilled some burgers and dogs, then Brent and Brian played an outdoor game called Bocce while Jamie and I visited. Once it started getting dark outside we went inside for a short time of Bible study and prayer. It was just a nice relaxing evening. Anyway, while we were still outside, Jamie grabbed my camera and snapped some shots... I actually like this picture of Mac and me:

Concentrated Consumption

Talk about intense! Mac will grab hold of our fingers and pull or push them every which way while he's munchin' on his grub! Not sure why but it can be quite entertaining... 'cause then we have to figure out how to hold the bottle in an upright position while he's holding 2 or more fingers. But sometimes it can hurt like the dickens... like when he apparently thinks said fingers should be able to detatch from our hands! This little dude is getting quite strong! Today, for example, was one of those entertaining days. Brent had to figure out how to hold the bottle with just his pointer and ring fingers. He seemed to do quite well! ☺

After eating and some play time we decided to put him in his swing to relax. I was fixing dinner while Brent was helping out with some laundry. I was worried that he'd get fussy but we looked and noticed that he was entertaining himself with one of his toys. When the little cooing noises stopped we looked again and...

He was zonked out!! So cute! Sweet little sleepy-head. :)

20 Weeks Old

Happy 20 weeks, Mac! Brent got off work a little bit early so we decided to head over to Boise! If there's one thing we've learned about budgeting money, it's this: even in the tight times, you still have to allow for a little bit of spending cash otherwise you'll go insane! So today, we took our little bit of spending funds and went to our happy spots. For Brent, it's a comic book connoisseur's paradise: Captain Comics. For me, it's a scrapper's paradise: Archiver's! Then, with coupon in hand and 'rewards points' waiting to be used, we got to eat out for $6 total!! For both of us!! Yippee!! Such a fun evening! Unfortunately, the only pictures taken were of scrappin' ideas found at Archiver's. Oops. :)

Sweet Hat!

We found this cute, super-cool hat on sale and just had to get it!! A lot of the hats that were given to us were more wintery... so we saw this one and decided it would be a good summer hat. Shading the eyes from the sun while still looking sporty and fabulously stylin'! :) We are so ready to hit the beach or even just hang out at the park now! And it can be worn with the brim up or down - so versatile! ;) Ok. Enough of sounding like a blurb in a hat catalogue! :D Time for pictures! Here's my little person:

Fun Toy

One of the toys we got from that garage sale we went to the other weekend is proving to be a winner. It's another 3-level activity station and Mac seems to love it! It has music, lights and toys that rattle and dangle! He's definitely getting the hang of swatting at the dangley toys. He can even touch the "piano keys" now! What fun! And here are my two guys after a seemingly long day... zonked out!

Caddywampus

When Mac woke up from his first nap today, it looked like he had gotten bit by a bug. How dare a bug bite my baby! So, I stripped the bassinet in search of... the bug. I would surely kill it once I found it! I must save my son from anymore useless attacks! I found nothing. No bug. In putting his bed back together, however, I decided to leave out those foam wedges that keep baby in place. I figured it would give him more room to breathe. Bad idea. This is what I found when I went to get him from nap #2:

A caddywampus kiddo! His head was pushing against one side of the bassinet and his knee was tucked up against the other side! Funny little guy. He does get quite wiggly in bed. I concluded that those foam wedges served him better in the bed, keeping him nice and straight. Oh well. It was worth a shot. We actually ordered a new crib yesterday so, once we get the call to pick it up and we build it, he'll have plenty of room to wiggle and grow! Poor little guy... he's bustin' out the seams of this little bassinet! ♥♥

CELEBRATE!!!

Here's another 'mostly Brent' post but I gotta say: I AM SO PROUD!!! He's finally done with his thesis!! Yahoooooo!!!! He met with his advisor earlier this evening, they talked about how long he'd been working on it and how 'ready to be done with it' he is... anyway, when it came down to it, the advisor agreed that he needs to be moving on. Brent's not sure what his grade will be but it'll be a passing one, for sure. Then he'll actually get that piece of paper that says he's an MSW at the end of this summer term! He's so relieved! So am I!!! His next steps are to study for and take the licensing exam and then to update and send out the ol' resumé to potential employers - both here, in Idaho, and in Oregon. We'll see what happens! In the meantime, we're celebrating!! The celebratory dinner was at Brent's favorite place in town: Krung Thai. It's the only place in Nampa where they make and serve fresh sushi (that we know of). So... YAY for Brent!! Way to go, Babe!!

Plate o' sushi.........................Brent's thoroughly enjoying this!

Happy hubby!..................Showing Mac how it's done!!

Mac's not impressed! "You just ate WHAAAT?? Ew." :)
He'll come around... give him time. Those taste buds are still developing you know. ;D

Oh My!

Well. Brent decided that he needed a change. So... HE SHAVED! Most of the hair on his noggin is G-O-N-E!!! Including the goatee! Eeek.
Typically, if I'm writing about the big guy, I'm writing about the little guy too. But... I gotta say: This is fairly noteworthy even without mention of the kiddo. Oh wait! I shall speak of the little one after all... Brent's worried that Mac won't recognize his "new" face. I think Mac did seem a little bit hesitant right at first. Good thing he knows his dad's voice and scent too! He'll have plenty of time to get used to daddy's new look. The daddy-kisses should be a little less tickley/ scratchy now. :)
Anyway. Here's the morphing of the new "do" ~~~
The biker dude look - Totally cracked me UP!!...Half of the biker dude look - HA!!
The Steve Zahn look...................................The Inspector Clouseau look

Sans facial hair - before the shaving of the top-notcher. :)

Yeah, so the biker dude look seriously took me off guard and I just started laughing hysterically when he walked in the room! What a surprise! HILARIOUS stuff! :D

Conversation

Daddy and Mac were having quite the conversation today. Daddy would talk. Mac would "talk" back. And at the appropriate times even. It was certainly entertaining! Sure do love my guys!!
